Why Indoor Kimono Photos Work Beautifully
Many couples actually prefer studio shots once they see the results. Without the chaos of tourist crowds, wind, and uneven outdoor lighting, studio photos have a timeless, editorial quality that outdoor shots sometimes lack.
Our studio uses professional lighting equipment and carefully designed backdrops that complement the colors and textures of formal bridal kimono. The result is a clean, elegant aesthetic that lets the kimono — and the couple — take centre stage.
What the Indoor Studio Looks Like
The studio space is designed exclusively for kimono wedding photography. Features include:
- Professional lighting — Soft, flattering light that works with the metallic and silk textures of wedding kimono
- Multiple backdrop options — Classic white, dark tones, and traditional Japanese aesthetic panels
- Private space — The studio is exclusively yours during your session. No other guests, no strangers walking through.
- Props and accessories — Traditional fans, parasols, lanterns, and floral arrangements available for use
Rain Day Plan: How It Works
If rain is forecast or arrives on the day of your shoot, here is exactly what happens:
- We contact you in advance if heavy rain is expected, to discuss options
- On the day, if outdoor shooting is not possible, we proceed entirely indoors
- Your photographer adapts the session to make full use of the studio space
- You receive the same number of edited photos as an outdoor session
- No extra charge, no compromise on quality
Can I Do Both Indoor and Outdoor?
Yes — if the weather clears during your session, or if you want a mix of both environments, your photographer can split the shoot between studio and outdoor locations. Asakusa’s covered shopping arcades (Nakamise) also offer partial shelter for outdoor-feel shots even in light rain.
The Simple Studio Photo Plan: Built for Any Weather
Our Simple Studio Photo Plan (¥88,000) is specifically designed as a studio-first experience — making it the perfect choice for travellers visiting during rainy season (June–July) or unpredictable weather periods.
- One premium wedding kimono (shiromuku or iro-uchikake)
- Full kimono dressing by certified dresser
- Professional hair styling
- English-speaking photographer
- 30-minute studio photoshoot
- All edited photos delivered
- Total time: approximately 2.5 hours
Tokyo’s Rainy Season: When to Expect Rain
If you are planning your trip around the weather, here is a quick guide to Tokyo’s rainfall patterns:
| Month | Weather | Notes |
| March–April | Mild, occasional rain | Cherry blossom season — beautiful but busy |
| May | Dry and pleasant | Excellent for outdoor shoots |
| June–July | Rainy season (tsuyu) | Studio plan recommended |
| August | Hot and humid | Early morning shoots preferred |
| September–October | Mild, some typhoons | Autumn colours from late October |
| November | Dry, autumn foliage | One of the best months for outdoor shoots |
| December–February | Cold and dry | Clear skies, low crowds |

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be told in advance if the shoot moves indoors?
Yes. If heavy rain is forecast, we will contact you beforehand. On the day itself, the final decision is made based on actual conditions, and we will always discuss options with you before proceeding.
Do indoor and outdoor shoots cost the same?
Yes. If your outdoor session moves indoors due to rain, there is no price change. You pay exactly what was agreed at booking.
Is the studio air-conditioned?
Yes. The studio is fully climate-controlled, making it comfortable in both summer and winter — especially important when wearing layered formal kimono.
Can I see the studio photos before deciding on a plan?
Yes. Our gallery page shows examples of both studio and location photography. You can also ask us to send specific examples when you get in touch.
